In the introduction to the Text, Ruegg refers to antecedent and parallel texts in Sanskrit and Tibetan, as well as Tsongkhapa's own citation of a number of Indian sutra and sastra texts. (ref. p 25)

In reading the catechetical style employed in Chapter 6, Refuting Misconceptions about Meditation, I'm reminded of the Kathavathu as well as the Abhidharma literature that employs this method of question and answer to make its point.
