Addressing Venerable and 大藏经 online version

Hi Kalyayamitta,
I have two questions and appreciate your comments.
1) In Mahayana tradition temple in Malaysia, I always heard lay people addressing monk/ nun’s name by adding 上 & 下, be it in writing or oral speech. Example, if a venerable’s name is 圆通,he will be addressed as 上圆下通。I would like to understand the historical origination of this and if this is still a common practice in other countries besides Malaysia.
2) Is there a website where we can access to the digital version of 大正大藏經?
