Lam Rim Without Deity

When I first studied Tibetan Buddhism, I was expecting to meet all those Tibetan deities, such as Vajravārāhī or Cakrasamvara, etc. However, Lam Rim was basically about the bodhisattva path of the six pāramitā. Je Tsongkhapa himself had been trained in all 4 traditional schools (Sakya, Kagyu, Nyingma, and Kadam), and practiced Mahamudra and Dzogchen, etc. However, he seemed not to mention much about all those esoteric trainings in Lam Rim. Perhaps this is why those practices were called esoteric teachings :)
